Arada awards design contract for Sharjah's forested community

UAE-based developer Arada has awarded the design and supervision services contract for the Sendian District, the first phase of AED8 billion ($2.2 billion) Masaar, a new forested community located in the Suyoh district of Sharjah.
The contract has been clinched by Dubai-based Dewan Architects + Engineers, which will oversee the design and supervision for the construction of 431 villas and townhouses.
Launched in January this year, Masaar features a total of 4,000 villas and townhouses set in eight gated districts, all located in a nature-filled masterdevelopment.
Masaar (path in Arabic) has been carefully designed to enable its residents to transform their lives by encouraging healthy living in harmony with nature.
Featuring over 50,000 trees, Masaar’s signature feature is a lushly landscaped and walkable ‘green spine’ that will be activated by footpaths, cycle tracks, passive zones and a range of different sporting facilities, said the developer.
The first contracts for Masaar were awarded in May including the one for infrastructure design and supervision consultancy services, which was won by US engineering consultancy Parsons Overseas Limited, while the contract to build the Masaar Experience Centre and show villa was awarded to ASGC.
According to Arada, Phase One of Masaar is now 90% sold out and the first homes in the district are scheduled to be handed over by the end of 2023.
Homes at Sendian (oak tree in Arabic) range in size from two-bedroom townhouses to five-bedroom Sendian Park Villas. Every unit has smart home features as standard and all are located close to the leisure and entertainment zone in the heart of Masaar, it added.
On the contract award, CEO Ahmed Alkhoshaibi said: "This marks another step forward in the development of a community that will set a new standard of living, not just in Sharjah but the entire UAE. Masaar is ideally located in the up-and-coming Suyoh district, close to Tilal City, the Sharjah Mosque and Arada’s first project, Nasma Residences, stated the top official.
"The community has easy access to Emirates Road and Mleiha Road, and is 15 minutes’ drive from Sharjah International Airport, and 20 minutes’ drive from Dubai International Airport. The location is ideal for a convenient and traffic-free commute from Sharjah to Dubai or the Northern Emirates," he added.
